Mash + Mint caught up with Sohn, the visionary founder of JIN JIN, to talk about her journey creating beverages that blend ancient fermentation methods with modern wellbeing.
Sohn, Could you share your personal journey and what inspired you to create Drink JIN JIN?
What is JIN JIN?
I created JIN JIN because I saw the real benefits of natural fermentation for myself and the people I care about. In a world that moves fast, I wanted something simple, natural, and genuinely enjoyable. JIN JIN is a feel-good, taste-good drink: rich, complex, and satisfying, without any of the usual "pain for gain."
It’s a naturally fermented cordial made from over 35 fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and cultures. Packed with enzymes, JIN JIN is designed to support a better lifestyle helping you feel better from the inside out, one sip at a time.
It’s all-natural, naturally different, and never lab-made. Nothing fancy just nature doing what it does best.
For those discovering JIN JIN for the first time, what makes it different from other wellness drinks on the market?
We’re not a lab-born health drink. JIN JIN is rooted in ancient wisdom and natural fermentation. It’s made slowly, using traditional techniques that allow living cultures and enzymes to develop over time nothing rushed, nothing artificial.
What also sets us apart is that we’re not botanical-based, which is where most non-alcoholic functional drinks tend to focus. JIN JIN offers something different a deeper, earthier experience. It’s rich and savoury, with decadent aromas of stewed fruits and luscious molasses, balanced by umami undertones. On the palate, it’s a symphony of flavour: coffee, balsamic, prune and mineral tones, with a long, complex finish that lingers beautifully. And it’s incredibly versatile. Mix a small amount with still or sparkling water, drizzle it over yoghurt, add it to smoothies it adapts to your lifestyle, not the other way around.
Wellness is such a broad concept, what does “wellness at home” mean to you personally?
To me, it means creating space to feel well in your body, your mind, and your surroundings. It doesn’t always look like routines or rules. Sometimes it’s a quiet moment with a drink you love. Sometimes it’s choosing rest over productivity. At home, wellness should feel gentle and nourishing not like a checklist.
You don’t need to reinvent your day. JIN JIN is designed to fit into the rhythms you already have. Stir it into your smoothie, pour it over yoghurt, or just enjoy it with water. I want JIN JIN to feel like something you own. Your wellness, your way.
How do you personally incorporate mindful wellness practices into your daily home life?
I try to make room for small moments that feel grounding. That might be stepping outside first thing in the morning with a warm drink or ending the day with music I’m really into this band at the moment called Portico Quartet; their song "Prickly Pear" is just beautiful.
Drinking JIN JIN with sparkling water has become a little ritual for me refreshing and intentional, but never fussy. It’s the quiet, consistent practices that seem to make the biggest difference.
JIN JIN blends traditional fermentation techniques with a modern lifestyle. How do you see fermented wellness fitting into today’s fast-paced world?
Fermentation teaches patience and what it gives you in return is something alive, complex and powerful. In a fast-paced world, I think fermented wellness offers a kind of counterbalance. JIN JIN fits easily into modern routines, but it carries with it a sense of tradition and care that invites people to slow down, even briefly.
Personally, it’s about feeling looked after especially in a world where convenience often wins over quality. JIN JIN creates a moment where you can choose both.
Many of our Mash + Mint readers love slow living and intentional rituals. Could you share your favourite daily ritual involving JIN JIN?
My favourite way to enjoy JIN JIN is in the early afternoon, when I want to refresh without reaching for coffee. I mix JIN JIN with sparkling water then pour it over ice, maybe add a slice of citrus, and take a minute to present. It’s a simple ritual, but it creates space a lovely feel good energy boost.
From your perspective, how can small daily rituals, like enjoying a wellness drink or styling a home space, make a lasting impact on overall wellbeing?
The small things add up. A few intentional choices each day what you drink, how you open or close your routine, how you shape your space they create a rhythm. And it’s those rhythms that influence how we feel, long term.
It’s not about getting everything right. It’s about small cues of care ways to remind yourself that you matter!
What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to begin a more feel-good lifestyle at home?
Start small and start with something you enjoy. Whether it’s a drink you love, taking your time with a morning coffee, putting on a playlist, or simply stepping outside. Make the choice that feels good to you and do it kindly.
When you treat yourself well, you feel well and you’ll naturally want to keep doing it. A feel-good lifestyle isn’t about following trends or ticking boxes. It’s about tuning into yourself and building a rhythm that supports you, naturally.
How do you see drinks like JIN JIN becoming part of the design and ritual of a modern home?
I see JIN JIN as something that belongs out in the open not tucked away in a cupboard, but styled with intention, like a beautiful bottle of olive oil or a well-loved ceramic mug. It’s part of how we live well at home not just something you drink, but something you enjoy having around.
Whether it sits on a bar cart, beside your favourite glassware, or within reach in the kitchen, it brings a sense of care and culture into your space. For me, JIN JIN isn’t just about function it’s about creating small, satisfying moments that feel good, taste good, and reflect the way you want to live.
Looking ahead, what’s next for JIN JIN?
We’re excited to keep pioneering the enzymatic drinks category and introduce more people to the power of fermented ingredients. While there are ideas and new formats on the horizon, our focus right now is on deepening our roots bringing JIN JIN to more homes, restaurants and cultural spaces that care about flavour, function and tradition.
Ultimately, we want to carve out a new subcategory in the non-alcoholic space something functional, not just an alcohol substitute. A drink that feels as good as it tastes and stands proudly on its own.
Sohn’s story is a refreshing reminder that innovation often begins with tradition JIN JIN is more than a drink, it’s a celebration of culture, care, and conscious living.
