A game after dinner, a little friendly rivalry and a backgammon board you'd happily leave on the table.
The Island Society's Made in Monmouth Backgammon Set is a beautifully illustrated take on the traditional two-player board game. Inspired by Mediterranean colours, old nautical charts and island adventures, the folding board features warm terracotta, ochre and cream tones, with a distinctive compass design at its centre.
What makes this set particularly special are the 30 handmade Jesmonite playing pieces. Finished in terracotta and white, each counter has a tactile, stone-like appearance with subtle variations in colour and pattern. No two handmade pieces will be exactly alike.
Designed in Monmouth, Wales, this travel backgammon set opens to a generous 38 × 38 cm playing board and packs into a compact 20 × 20 cm box. It's a lovely game to keep at home, take on holiday or enjoy during weekends away.
Whether you're playing across the kitchen table, spending an afternoon in a holiday cottage or introducing someone to the game for the first time, backgammon is a wonderful excuse to put the phones away and spend time together.
A thoughtful birthday, anniversary or Christmas gift for couples, travellers, board game enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates original design. With its Mediterranean-inspired artwork and handmade details, it's as lovely to give as it is to play.
